W.B. Wicker Partners with Buzzline to Help Families

At W.B. Wicker Elementary School in Sanford, a new partnership is helping connect families to school and community resources by addressing a practical barrier: transportation.
Through the Tiger Den Family Resource Center, families experiencing transportation challenges can apply for trip vouchers for Buzzline Microtransit and the County of Lee Transit System (COLTS). The partnership demonstrates the North Carolina Community Schools model in action; Wicker’s Community Schools Coordinator Brittany Degraffenreadit is working with school and local partners to connect families with existing resources so students, staff, and families have access to everything they need to thrive. Buzzline is a partnership between the City of Sanford and Lee County, supported by the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Integrated Mobility Division and the Institute for Transportation Research and Education.
